Why Police Intervened and stopped Ed Sheeran’s Street Show? Know the exact Reason

On Sunday, February 9, 2025, ED Sheeran on his extensive ‘mathematics’ Tour, decided to treat his Bengaluru fans to an unannounced performance on Church Street, near the M G Road Metro station. Equipped with two microphones and his signature guitar, he began engaging the crowd with an unplugged rendition of his chart-topping hit, “Shape of You.” However, merely a minute into the street show, a police officer intervened, disconnecting the speakers and bringing the performance to an unexpected halt.

The halt was due to the absence of prior permission for the street performance. Authorities emphasized that any public event, regardless of its nature or the stature of the performer, necessitates official authorization to ensure public safety and order.

Additionally, reports suggest that the police had received a complaint alleging public nuisance, further leading to their intervention. Addressing the incident, Sheeran took to Instagram to clarify the situation. He assured fans that the performance had been planned and that he had obtained the necessary permissions. Despite the unforeseen interruption, Sheeran maintained a positive demeanor, smiling and engaging with the crowd even as the equipment was being unplugged.
