Why Blue Lock Season 2 Struggles to Match the Magic of Season 1?

One of the most popular sports anime, Blue Lock, is in its second season now, and the fans are showering a tremendous amount of love on it. However, after the successful completion of season 1, the fans are a bit concerned about the second one. They feel that season 2 has not been up to the mark and lacks something. High-intensity football action plus character-driven storytelling made the fans go crazy about season 1. The anime was also discussed mainly because of its spectacular animation, a perfect display of individuality and teamwork, and unique premise. However, as season 2 unfolds, many fans feel it’s struggling to live up to its prequel. What went wrong?

1. A Dip in Animation Quality

Talking about the animation, the first season was fantastic, but the second one is nowhere near it. Blue Lock was largely appreciated for its crisp and free-flow visuals in the first season, which are considered to be crucial for displaying intense football games. Fans have complained about the dynamism of the second season’s visuals, which is one of the main reasons for detracting from the overall experience.

2. Losing the Balance

Here, the balance that has been talked about is between individuality and teamwork, which was shown immensely well in the first season but indeed lacking in the second one. Fans believe the second season has failed to carry on with the storyline that the first season possessed. They feel the story is now mostly based on the individual ego, which is a red flag for numerous sports lovers. This is also one of the reasons why fans are moving away from this anime.

3. Straying From Football’s Core

Another issue with this anime that has been noticed by many viewers in season 2 is that it is straying from football’s core episode by episode. Blue Lock is said to be drifting away from the football-centric approach and narrative that was one of their pillars in season 1. As it is a sports animation series, fans expect a narrative related to that, but this anime is relentless in showcasing personal egos and personal battles. For die-hard football lovers, this straying from the game’s essence is a crucial letdown.

Although the anime has lost a few of its viewers, it is still considered a top anime to watch. People all over the world are showering a great amount of love on Blue Lock, and thus, it has become one of the most popular anime series of the current era.
